Lighting A Charcoal Grill
Gas or Charcoal? For lot's of people gas wins out because it is perceived as easier and faster... Hold on a second, give charcoal another look. With the right equipment you can be ready with a charcoal grill almost as fast - and more importantly - your grilled food will taste better! Yes that's right, taste better!Starting a charcoal grill is not hard, not hard at all. I have a gas grill... not sure when I used it last. Lump charcoal just tastes that much better, and when you want heat (in winter say!) it's hotter - the opposite is also true. Just takes a couple of tries to learn heat control.
But that's not what we are here to talk about - Lighting a charcoal grill is easy, and doesn't require lighter fluid or 'quick light briquettes' (stay away from that stuff unless you want steak that tastes like kerosene), . Get yourself a charcoal chimney, and yesterday's paper from the recycling bin.
I can have my charcoal grill ready in 4-5 minutes longer, at most, than the gas grill. So why wouldn't you use charcoal?
My German Grill even has a built in chimney, making it even easier.
