Tips for Melting Chocolate

Don't worry, Julie is going to give you some tips for melting in a glass bowl over a pot of hot water.
-Don't get water in the chocolate.
And
-Don't overheat the chocolate, this can lead to loss of flavour, and a grainy texture.
You can use a microwave, but we've found that there is such a variation in microwave power it's almost impossible to give accurate times.

Hi! Welcome to Le Gourmet TV. Often when you're making a recipe, you're required to melt butter and chocolate together. It's really simple to do. You need some type of Pyrex type of bowl, a pot with some water, set it inside, turned it on to simmer. You keep it at simmer, you don't want it to boil over because when you get water in the bowl, water and chocolate don't mix.
Once your glass bowl gets a bit warm, start with your butter and it goes, chocolate, oops, that went in quite quickly, keep your eye on it, stir it often, once it's melted, you're good to go.
