Caramel Sauce! How can you live without this stuff on your Ice Cream, or Cake? If you’ve been scared off by all the warnings about how hard it is to make (sugar that crystalises into rock hard candy), don’t worry; this recipe has a bit of corn syrup in it. The syrup keeps the mixture liquid - easing your fears.

Welcome to LeGourmet.tv. Recently we took a trip down to Lynchburg, Tennessee, where we had lunch at Miss Mary Bobo's. We had Town Square-Chess Squares for dessert. They were quite tasty, so we are going to make some of that today.
We are going to start by putting in our butter and sugar and blending it together. Our sugars... Excellent! So now we'll add the eggs and vanilla. We'll just give those a mix. We are now going to add the flour and the baking powder and then of course just a wee bit of salt. Blend that in, but I actually get my wooden spoon to blend that in by hand.
No time at all, it's time to add some corns. Mix those in well and then put it in the pan. My 9x13 pan is ready to go. I have got it buttered, some fairly thick, spread it over right into the corners. So it is going to go into the oven for about 30 minutes at 350 degrees. I think we are ready to go. It smells great but like any type of square, we are going to need to wait until we carve it out.
So there we have it town square-chess squares recipe. I happened to really like it with Jack's Whisky Buttermilk Butterscotch sauce. Perfect with a cup of tea.
Thanks for coming, Bye!
